Yoga is a Sanskrit word which is commonly translated as 'to join' or 'unite' and the main aim of yoga is to help develop a healthy balance between body and mind. Yoga classes focus on the practice of postures (also called asanas) and breathing exercises in order to promote strength and health in the body.
